The $20 Price Increase That Changed Everything

The $20 Price Increase That Changed Everything

Y'all, I have to be real with you. I missed last week's episode because I literally injured myself on day 22 of my 30-day fitness challenge. But you know what? That injury taught me more about running my business than any course I've ever taken.

What happened: I was so focused on working out for 30 days straight that I forgot the most important part—recovery. My body needed rest, but I kept pushing. Sound familiar? Because that's exactly what I'd been doing in my business.

The lightbulb moment: Lying there with compression sleeves on both knees, I realized I'd been treating my business like a gym newbie. You know the type—either getting overwhelmed by all the equipment and leaving, or trying to do five minutes on everything expecting instant results.

The $20 story that changed everything: I had this macrame wall hanging sitting on Etsy for $62. Crickets. No sales. Updated photos, rewrote descriptions—still nothing. Then randomly (honestly, it had to be God), I raised it to $82. A week later? First sale. Then another. And another. Sometimes people think something's low quality when it's priced too low.

But here's the real tea: That pricing win was just one piece of the puzzle. The bigger lesson was about gathering data, seeing what yields results, and then moving strategically. That's when I created what I'm calling the GYM Framework.

The GYM Framework Breakdown:

G - Gather: Take inventory. What's actually working? Where are your sales coming from? What posts get engagement? Stop guessing and start collecting data.

Y - Yield: Look for patterns. What keeps getting clicks? What's draining your energy for zero results? Time to prune what's not working.

M - Move: Now be intentional. Expand on what's working strategically. Add upsells, run ads, collaborate—but do it with purpose.

My honest confessions:

  • I've been walking into the business gym and getting overwhelmed for a YEAR
  • I had way too many products (like 200+) as a solopreneur
  • I was building my business around algorithms instead of building something sustainable
  • I kept beating myself up every time something didn't work instead of seeing it as data

What I'm doing differently:

  • Moving from Etsy to Shopify (building on my own foundation)
  • Focusing on a handful of bestselling products instead of 200
  • Creating a digital journal based on my psychology background + biblical truth
  • Using YouTube shorts to start (minimal editing, maximum consistency)
  • Building community by letting customers see their items being made

The bottom line: We're coming up on Q4—the time when many businesses see their biggest revenue boost. This is our chance to test, gather data, and position ourselves strategically instead of just throwing spaghetti at the wall.

Remember: Just like the gym, business isn't a race. It's about consistency, rest, and doing small steps consistently to see change over time.

Want the GYM Framework for free? I'll have the downloadable framework ready for you. Print it out, keep it next to you, and let's check in every three months to make data-driven decisions instead of just being all over the place.

Be blessed, y'all. And remember—even when we fail, we're learning more than sometimes when we win.
